第一题所说的事还未发生，所以用this。你听新闻时，如果新闻还未开始，广播员说this is new.如果新闻已经播完，广播员就说that was news.第二题说each student的原因可能是老师没有坐的地方。（我的单位就是如此）。第三题用that of mine是因为前面有The engine in your car 这一句型。前面没有类似my car's 的句型。代词一定要有前面可以代替的词汇。第五题似乎不可以用B.因为empty space是第一次提到，不需要定冠词限定。我没有很好地学过英语语法，不知我的回答行不行。

1，this that可以作宾语用在句尾，根据语句的意思我想告诉你的是这个（这事）。如果说我想告诉你的是那件事。有些不太妥当。英语就要选择最佳的答案。2，也是一样的，要取最佳的答案，在教室里，大家都有自己的椅子和桌子。当然用每个学生要好一些了。3，不可以。后面的是一定要用 的形式的。5 不可以。
