这么想吧：search through是“把。。。仔细搜寻一遍”的意思 因为：search for 中for 后面加的是所要寻找的东西 比如：I search for the key everywhere 。这里key是要找的 但是从句子后面“to find a book by Dickens ”才知道原句中的the books on the shelf 并不是他要search for 的 而a book by Dickens才是意思就是说“他为了找Dickens的书把书架上的书翻了个遍 ”因为the books on the shelf不是他要找的 所以不用search for 而search through是“把。。。仔细搜寻一遍”的意思 这个词组代到句子意思正好 所以选这个。。。汗。。。希望你理解。。。再说的话我也说不清楚了。。。这可是真要语感了。。。 。

look through表从左到右都找了个遍,并不是翻开找（只是浏览书架）look for 不用多说

我认为B项是正确的。因为search for 后跟要找的事物，表示在寻找想要的东西。而SEARCH THROUGH是指将某种事物翻了个遍。
